CIRCUIT OF WALES Plans to build a Motogpstandard racetrack in the Ebbw Vale region of Wales appear to be finished. The Welsh Government has refused a request by the Circuit of Wales to guarantee half of the project’s £400m cost with public money. In place of the racetrack are plans to build a £100m automotive technology park. The sound of champagne corks popping was reported by local residents in the Silverstone area.

THE HONDA FIREBLADE The racing woes of the Honda Fireblade peaked at the Isle of Man TT. Multiple winner John Mcguinness wasn’t competing, having already crashed his Blade and broken his leg at the North West 200. Team-mate Guy Martin qualified in a lowly 26th for Superbike, crashed on the first lap then pulled out of the Senior. The Blade still hasn’t won a race in British or World Superbikes either.
