THE RIDE VERDICT

-

THE KTM 790 Duke proves the point that natural agility and low weight trumps big power and complex suspension when it comes to sporty riding. You could spend £20,000 on a 1000cc sportsbike and get nowhere near the same level of riding satisfaction that this KTM delivers. How the Austrian manufacturer has managed to shoe-horn such a brilliant middleweight parallel-twin into such a slim chassis is truly baffling but really impressive.

As well as being genuinely thrilling on fast roads and a viable machine for the track, it’s also a really easy-to-ride and practical machine for the daily commute. Plus, it’s backed up with more hi-tech electronics as standard than some Japanese sportsbikes. The KTM 790 Duke is also the perfect antidote for those riders who want the look, feel and equipment level of a super naked but are put off by the mental power from the engine, as well as the price. It shows you can have great handling, scintillating performance and the latest technology without breaking the bank.
