Best time of day to ride

“Weekdays, late morning or early afternoon and evenings are great.”

Best corner

“Some lovely hairpins into Crowdecote but there are good bends all the way round.”

Be careful at...

“The quarry near Longcliffe — lots of lorries and dust and gravel on the roads in the week (quieter at the weekend). Speed cameras can pop up on the A515 and A523/A52. There are some bends that tighten up on the B5056.”

Best place for a cuppa

“The Old Smithy Tearooms at Monyash is my favourite café in the world — lovely fry-up and

cakes. The Royal Oak in Hurdlow does great steaks and there’s a good chippy in Longnor.”

And also remember...

“There are fuel stations dotted around the route but some smaller ones might be closed in the evenings. Best bet is to fill up in Ashbourne if you need to. Watch out for cyclists out on the moors.”
