‘I’m an aged biker…’
Responding to your star letter from Alan Wishart, I may be one the oldest active bikers. I passed my test age 16 in 1954 on a GPO BSA Bantam. I rode trials in the 60s on a variety of machinery and have owned numerous British, Japanese and
German motorcycles since.
I retired in 2007 and went touring. On a Suzuki V-strom 650, I rode solo in Australia, coast-to-coast across the USA, Africa, Thailand, Myanmar, Morocco and most of Europe all the way down to Turkey.
I only gave up trail riding on my Yamaha TTR250 recently and have just sold the V-strom. Definitely the best all-round bike I have owned.
She had done 92,000 miles.
Meeting up with a like-minded lady, Rosie and I are now touring on our Africa Twin. I have no plans to stop riding, as long as I am able to get insured every year!
