‘Don’t forget the Ténéré 660!’
With the current T7 Ténéré flying out of the dealers as fast as Yamaha can make them, what of the previous model? Often dismissed as underpowered, and therefore unworthy of consideration, it does have a devoted following. Although I’ve ridden the new 700, and thought it superb, I haven’t changed yet.
The blend of 23-litre tank, comfortable pillion perch, and single-cylinder simplicity might mean I never sell this bike. It regularly carries me and the good lady all over Europe and, once she has retired, further I hope. A meeting of XT660Z fans might prove interesting in the mag. Dick Underdown
