Alpinestars Web GTX £199.99
The Alpinestars Web GTX is a fairly standard-looking boot, with little in the way of frills. The manufacturer has clearly concentrated on the use of Gore-tex in a boot it expects users to ride in all day. The single side-entry zip makes it easy to get on and the Velcro-fastened flaps pull the top of the boot against the calf. Feet were well located though there was some very slight heel lift and the foot felt farther forward than some others. Using the controls was very easy, as the articulation worked well and the material was very supple. Confidence in them was high — not as high as a sports boot admittedly but they do achieve the highest CE rating. They are boots that benefit from Gore-tex — you could easily ride 1000 miles in a day as they were superbly comfortable and keep the feet cool and sweat-free. They resisted any external water ingress in both the spray and the dunk tests.
