‘One of the best roads in the area’

PETER

THOMPSON Yamaha FZS1000 “I’ve lived here all my life and there’s so much here. The roads are very quiet; so clear, just bikers up here. Middleton-in-teesdale to Alston on the B6277 is one of the best roads in the area. Very remote, no houses, over the top of the moors.”

‘The roads are big enough to have fun’

GRAEME SUTHERLAND

BMW R1200GS

“My parents are in Barnard Castle and I live in Northumberland so it’s a good excuse to ride over to Alston; it’s a great run down there, with sheer drops at the side of the road. The roads are big enough to have some fun on but not so big you’re on a motorway.”

‘Just the rolling hills either side of you’

SHAUN FORSTER Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro

“I live in the area and I love it because there’s a bit of everything; quick roads, tight roads, back roads. And there’s a remote quality to it; you can get lost out there, just the rolling hills either side of you. People tend to leave the North Pennines alone. It’s great.”
