A very stylish carbon-fibre lid that comes loaded with features. As well as being ready for HJC’S Smart communications system (£140), it has an emergency release system, integrated sun visor, Pinlock and provision for glasses’ while also boasting an excellent visor release mechanism. The vents are large, making them easy to locate and move (the top one has a twostage operation) and there are also two exhaust vents.

Nice and snug fitting with a beautiful-feeling lining, the lightweight HJC does push slightly on your cheek bones and jaw but there is ample room for glasses to slip in, which is excellent. The chin cover fabric flap is a bit odd as you need to pull it out once you insert your head but it’s lovely to wear. After a while, the pushing on your jaw can become uncomfortable, so check it fits you before you buy. A top-drawer crash helmet.
