The cost to swap bikes

Honda’s adventure bike struggles to hold onto its value

-

A major blight on the Africa Twin is the fact that Honda is always offering deals on it, which harms its used prices. Last year, Derek took advantage of this, paying £11,000 for his bike complete with the Travel Pack fitted (on 0% finance), which was a saving of about £2000. To match the spec of his bike, he would have to buy a ‘Plus Edition’ 2020 model, which has an RRP of £15,849 but Honda has been offering £1000 ‘back to work’ discounts in the summer. Due to the fact he has covered a high 15,000 miles, Derek would be lucky to get £7500 if he traded in his bike, leaving him with a shortfall of £8349 (assuming the £1000 deal has expired). He is paying £305 a month on 0% HP for his Twin, so has £5500 left to pay after 18 months, leaving him with £2000 for a deposit, which he would need to add a further £1387.45 to. On PCP that would see him paying £185 a month with a final payment of £7574.37 or £365 a month on an HP plan, with both over 36 months.
