Zontes ZT310-T

- MICHAEL NEEVES

Low price, high tech

ZONTES HAS UPDATED its A2-licence friendly all-rounder for 2021. The Chinese-built 312cc single has a new Bosch fuel-injection system, slipper clutch, bigger 19-litre tank, largerdiameter front and rear brake discs and a snazzy TFT colour display with Bluetooth connectivity. All that on top of what was an already generously equipped machine.

You also get an electrically operated screen, keyless ignition, LEDS, backlit switches, two riding modes, a USB charger, adjustable brake and clutch levers…the list goes on. It’s also now available with 19in spoked wheels (as tested) with an 830mm tall seat, or 17in cast aluminium wheels with a 35mm lower perch. Aluminium cylinders and swingarm, a galvanised-steel fuel tank, sturdy paint finishes and plastics will all help it stand the test of time. The previous model has proved trouble-free and it comes with a two-year warranty.

Performance is more business-like than exciting but the Zontes is frugal, smooth, accelerates cleanly, tops 90mph and doesn’t tie itself in knots in the corners, although wet-weather grip from its CST dual-purpose rubber isn’t the best. For adventure thrills on a budget or a restricted licence, the ZT310-T is a lot of bike for the money.
