Q How much does it really weigh?

-

Triumph says the new Rocket 3 is “over 40kg lighter” than the old Rocket III. However, it doesn’t reveal its fully-fuelled weight, instead claiming a (largely meaningless) ‘dry’ figure. So we brim the Rocket’s fuel tank and hoik it up onto a set of calibrated digital scales. They reveal a soaking-wet weight of 323kg. That’s 29kg more than Triumph’s dry claim – a lot of ‘liquid’ – but, sure enough, it really is 44kg lighter than the old Rocket III Roadster’s 367kg.

In practice, it still needs a lot of muscle to push around at walking pace. But it’s not hard to pick up off the stand and once moving it’s lighter on its feet than you’d think.
