Q How well-made is it?

-

1 Engine

This is a brand-new motor — nothing but the ignition coils is shared with the old Rocket. So it’s unproven, with no way of rating its reliability either way. Some of the previous-generation Rocket engines had gearbox and/or clutch issues but only time will tell how kind this more-powerful motor is on its transmission.

2 Details

It’s clear that Triumph puts a huge amount of pride and thought into the Rocket’s details. The ‘Monza’-style fuel and oil-filler caps look lovely; the flip-down pillion pegs are super-swish; and wiring runs inside the handlebars and through the frame to keep things looking clean. It’s a real pleasure to look at the Rocket up close.

3 Finish

As good as you’d expect for the £20k pricetag. The welding on the downpipes is incredibly neat, the paint looks thick, and the machined detailing on the wheels (a feature on the GT version, not the R) looks fantastic. Who knows how it’ll last over time but, out of the showroom, the Rocket is a qualitylooking machine.
