‘I like pretty much everything’
Gary Spittlehouse, 2010 Yamaha FZ1-S Fazer
“I bought my Fazer in November 2012. It cost me £5500; it had 8000 miles on it and now it’s done 39,000. I reckon it’s worth around £3500 to £4000 now, which is pretty good. They tend to hold their value well.
“But it’s not the money. I’d never sell it because I like the bike so much; I’d regret selling it. It’s so reliable — I used it for touring, regularly riding from Lincoln to Carlisle visiting family, riding across the North Pennines. And I’ve taken it around Northern Ireland to see the Armoy road races. To ride it all day is just a pleasure — it’s not uncomfortable, and it’s such an all-rounder. I like its handling balance, power, comfort and reliability — pretty much everything. “I’ve done trackdays on it at Cadwell, on the back wheel going up the
Mountain, and ride it two-up with my lad on the back. The bike’s had a few mods; the Hyperpro spring was on the bike when I bought it and I’ve added R&G crash bungs and a tail tidy, a Scorpion end can, and a Beowulf rad guard. The only thing that’s gone wrong with it is the battery failed a while back. And that’s it.”
