Furygan Heat Blizzard £249.99 inc batteries www.nevis.uk.com
The Furygans are very supple gloves, formed in goat leather but they do come up large — we were sent a pair of pre-production size 8 to try before they were even launched though a size 7 fitted better. They are easy to get on, with Velcro wrist and outer-cuff straps and the batteries are located on the outside of the wrist, which makes them less cumbersome to wear.
The lining is plush and the fit is very nice — good relationship between the width of the hand, fingers and thumbs. They use 37.5 technology which means they are not overly thick — so feel is good — but offer reasonable insulation.
On the road, they don’t feel unduly cold without the heating but with it on, there is a gentle feeling of warmth that builds the higher the setting. There is no direct feeling of heat against the skin, just overall snugness.
The freezer test shows they don’t hit the highest temperatures but do maintain heat well. A smartphone app controls them as well as the buttons on the back of the wrist and once paired with the app, the controls are linked — change the setting on the right glove (without taking your hand off the grip) and the left glove mirrors it – useful.
In the waterproofing test, they stayed warm and completely dry, keeping all water out.
