ASEEMINGLY healthy young dad who was found dead by his partner following a night out died of a heart attack, an inquest heard.

Adam Bolton, 28, was discovered by his longterm girlfriend, Sheree Cullen, in the front room of their home in Newhey on the morning of May 30 this year.

He was lying ‘half-on, half-off the settee’ and failed to respond to Sheree’s frantic attempts to wake him.

When she removed a throw that was covering his face, she saw that his lips were blue and ran into the street for help.

The inquest, held at the Phoenix Centre, Heywood, heard the selfemployed plasterer had suffered a heart attack brought on by an undiagnosed condition which had caused the blood vessels supplying his heart to become severely blocked.

The previous day Adam had been to a family friend’s christening with his one-year-old daughter.

He had stayed out for a drinks at Firgrove Working Men’s club and continued socialising with friends after Sheree took his daughter home.

He was last seen leaving his sister Jenny’s house at around 3.10am on the morning of May 30.

Pathologist Dr Arun Manoharan told the hearing: “This is not something that just happened on that night, but because he was a strong young man he would have carried on.

“But without doubt he had quite significant coronary heart disease. I would say this is all in the last couple of years.

“I don’t see this happening over the last 10 years as he would have had some symptoms.”

Dr Manoharan told the court a toxicology report found traces of cannabis, cocaine and alcohol in Adam’s blood - but none at a level high enough to have caused his death.

However, he added that even recreational use of cocaine can speed up the process of coronary heart disease.

But, delivering a verdict of natural causes, assistant coroner Peter Sigee found there wasn’t sufficient evidence to link Adam’s occasional use of the drug with his death.

He said: “The evidence is that Adam died of natural causes.

“These were conditions that ran their full course and were the cause of Adam’s death.

“It’s always difficult when someone dies, especially when they die so young and particularly when they had seemed so healthy.

“It was a tragedy and a death no one was expecting.”
