Family fun lights up bonfire night skies

HUNDREDS of families flocked to Cronkeysha­w Common for bonfire night.

The event on Wednesday, one of three organised by the council around the borough, featured a large bonfire and firework display.

It was organised as part of the Greater Manchester-wide safe4autum­n.com campaign to keep families safe during the season.

Tonight (Saturday) bonfires are being held at:

Littleboro­ugh Cricket Club, Denhurst Road. Event from 5pm, bonfire lit at 6.30pm with fireworks. Tickets available on the turnstile at £15 for families including two adults and three children, £5 for adults and £3 for children and concession­s.

Norden Cricket Club, Woodhouse Lane. Event from 5pm, bonfire lit around 7pm. Tickets must be bought in advance, available from Yummies Milkshake and Sandwich Bar, 746 Edenfield Road from 10am each day, £5 adults, £3 concession­s, £15 for a family ticket of five. No unaccompan­ied under18s.

Rochdale Cricket Club, Bridgefold Road. Bonfire lit at 6pm with fireworks. Entry is £2 adults, £1 children and £5 for a family ticket.

Lobden Golf Club, Whitworth. Bonfire lit at 6pm with fireworks. Tickets on the door or available in advance from the club, £2 adults, children get in for free.
