Sports students sign up with City

-

FIFTY-SIX students have signed up with Manchester City.

The young people from Hopwood Hall College signed contracts with the club as part of their studies in sport and football. The students are working at City’s training centre near the Etihad, during a partnership between the college and the club’s community project.

They were invited to the Blues’ match against Southampton, which finished 1-1, as well as enjoying a tour of the site.

Student George Billingham, who is taking the Level 3 BTEC extended diploma, said: “Days like these are why we joined the course. I’ve been lucky enough to be a season ticket holder at City but never been ●●The Hopwood Hall College students with Manchester City representatives and Mike Bruns, the college’s programme manager for Uniform Public Services (UPS) and Sport in the Community behind the scenes or anywhere near the pitch. The match result could have been better though.”

Mike Bruns, programme manager at the college, added: “These students have experienced a day that no other college can offer, exploring the opportunities that City in the Community have delivered on. Today can only inspire the learners to achieve their aspirations. We are committed to giving our learners unique encounters that provides them with motivation to succeed in their studies using football as a catalyst.”
