Apprentice Aaron is in 11 heaven!

THE on and off pitch achievements of 11 young footballers, including Dale’s Aaron Morley, has been recognised by League Football Education (LFE) in ‘The 11’ competition.

‘The 11’ acknowledges the football and academic progress of Under-18 players on apprenticeships at current or former English Football League clubs.

Aaron made his first team debut earlier this month, after being handed a start in Rochdale’s Checkatrade Trophy win over Notts County. Four days later, he made his first league appearance, starting in Dale’s 3-0 win over Southend United.

Speaking at the time, Manager Keith Hill commented: “Age isn’t a concern for me. It’s the ability and the process of putting that ability into performances, and I think Aaron can do that.

“His passing is as good as you’re going to get at any level, not just this level.

“It’s like slo-mo time when he gets the ball, but trust me, the processes he goes through are very, very quick and are in timing with the Premier League, so if he adds to that then there could be a talent there for the football club.”

Judged by LFE’s team of regional officers, this accolade, will be given on four occasions during 2016-17 to celebrate the holistic development of young players, a barometer which is also applied to the Apprentice of the Year Awards later in the season.
