Sparks girls are just champion!
THE North West Floor & Vault Championships held in Wigan became another fine achievement for 54 young gymnasts from Sparks Gymnastics Academy.
With many of the girls competing for the first time they came home with a huge haul of 40 medals, and five North West Champions.
The weekend started with the Pre-Novice 7 years competition, and the Sparks superstars starting with Orlaith Odudu who took the Overall title as well as first on Vault and second on Floor. Her team mate Zara Tonye took the Bronze medal on Vault, Gold medal on Floor, & silver medal Overall, whilst Amelia Speake made it a clean sweep for the Sparklets with third on Floor, & bronze Overall.
Novice age 9 saw Macie Fletcher achieve second on Floor and third Overall, Amelia Crawford first on Vault and third Overall.
The Novice age 13+ competition saw Chloe Maynard take first on ●●right top - Grace Higginson, Chloe Maynard, Abigail McKenna, Phoebe Flitcroft-Pope, Alisha Linney, Georgia Matulka. Middle - Amelia Singleton, Bronte Molloy, Macie Fletcher, Olivia Smith. Front - Zara Tonye, Madelaine Lang, Orlaiths Odudu, Millie McGuire, Amelia Speake Floor and third Overall. A superb performance from first time competitor Erin Krupinski in the Pre-Novice age 8 gave her second on Vault, first on Floor, & second Overall, whilst Amelia Singleton in the Novice 10 years took third on Floor. Novice 12 years sparks superstar Bronte Molloy swept away all opposition taking Gold on Floor & Vault, and the Overall North West title, her team mate Georgia Matulka took third on Floor.
In the Intermediate 11 & 12 years the top performance went to Phoebe Flitcroft – Pope with Gold on Floor, Vault, and Overall. Alisha Linney won the Gold on Vault, Silver on Floor and Gold Overall, along with Sophie Cockcroft who placed second on Vault, first on Floor, & second Overall in the Intermediate 10 years.
Scarlet Smith in the Intermediate 13+ took third on Floor. Pre-Novice age 10 saw Olivia Shaw place third on Floor.
Another North West Champion Grace Higginson in the Pre-Novice age 9 was first on Vault, third on Floor, and first Overall, Ava Tracey gained Silver on Vault. In the Pre-Novice 12 years, Charley Birds came first on Vault, third Overall, and her team mate Abigail McKenna was second on Floor.
The Sunday competition saw Millie McGuire, and Abigail Lord contest the top North West performers at 9 year old in the Voluntary Level 4 Championships. Millie took the Gold Medal on Vault, along with Bronze on Bars.
