Man arrested after dinner lady is found dead in home
TRIBUTES have been paid to a university student stabbed to death at her home.
Natasha Wild, 23, was discovered with knife wounds to her neck at a bungalow on Middle Hill in Syke, on Monday night.
She was taken to hospital but later died.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Natasha’s mother led the tributes, saying: “Natasha was kind-hearted and clever and was working towards her final year in university.
“This is a tragic waste of life of a lovely and beautiful daughter.”
Natasha’s sister added: “My sister had a heart of gold.”
Natasha was a former pupil of Matthew Moss High School in Marland, and had been working there as a dinner lady at the time of her death.
Headteacher Mark Moorhouse led the tributes on behalf of staff and students.
He said: “It is with much sadness that we receive the terrible news about our friend and colleague, Natasha. A fantastic and much-loved member of our school community, both as a pupil and then as a member of the staff team, Natasha will be much missed.
“Our thoughts are with her family at this time.”
Natasha, who was studying at university to be a special needs teacher, was described by friends as a ‘beautiful’ and ‘lovely’ young woman.
Amanda Bowker posted on Facebook: “So sad, will miss you so much Natasha Wild. Shocked – was only laughing with you yesterday, R.I.P sweetheart.”
Tyler Young wrote: “R.I.P baby girl...shines as bright up there as you did down here. Love you girl xxxxxxx.”
Demi Jones said: “The world has lost a lovely girl and heaven gained an angel.
“Taken far too soon. My thoughts are with everybody affected by this horrible news R.I.P beautiful.”
Becky Beglin added: “R.I.P Natasha Wild taken so young absolutely gutted shine bright beautiful.”
Jodie Dinsdale posted: “Such sad news. So harmless and loving.
“Taken too soon. All my thoughts are with your family. Sleep tight with the angels.”
Chantelle Kay said: “Can’t believe it RIP Natasha thinking for your family at this sad time.”
Speaking on Tuesday a GMP spokesman said: “Shortly before 11.30pm on November 28 police were called to Middle Hill, Rochdale, to reports that a woman had been stabbed. Officers attended and found a woman with serious neck injuries. She was taken to hospital where she sadly died.
“A 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.”
