Lessons head to the forest

-

FORGIVE the Mancunian boasting but where Manchester leads Liverpool follows. Liverpool has been watching The Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s work in Manchester on Forest Schools at local primaries with envy.

Both fantastic cities though are in our patch and we’re now able to take the lessons we’ve learned to a new twin project in Liverpool.

Our supporters, those of you who are players of People’s Postcode Lottery, have not only extended funding for Forest Schools sessions but also doubled it to £100,000 for the year.

Forest Schools is all about bringing learning to life with hands-on activities in small groups outdoors.

Children build confidence and learn to work together, at the same time discovering the wonderful wildlife we have on our doorstep.

One of the amazing things in these sessions is the conversations you have with parents, teachers and children.

You get a glimpse of how the project touches lives and hear passionate local voices speaking about the positive differences for wildlife, for their community and for their children.

Think your primary school could succeed in the project? We’re looking for one new partner school in and around Moston and Newton Heath to join the three already lined up for our fully-funded project until the end of the 2016-17 school year.

We will spend one day each week delivering Forest Schools in your school grounds, where we will also install a special outdoor learning area with wooden seating and a removable canopy. We have lots of other opportunities for schools and families across Greater Manchester. Get in touch with me via amoolna@lancswt.org.uk to discuss this and other opportunities.
