English has her winning mojo back
HAMER Amateur Boxing Club were on the road again recently with 14-year-old Jude ‘Too Tough’ English making the long journey to The Octagon in Hull to meet Chloe Morris of Scunthorpe Boxing Club.
The bell for the first round rang and English immediately took the fight to her opponent by bobbing and weaving her way into range before unloading fast and hurtful punches to both the body and head while constantly making her opponent miss.
As the bout continued, Morris turned her Rochdale opponent on the ropes and began to use her feet to gain distance and find her range and for a short time she gained success with her long reach advantage. But as the round began to come to an end English backed Morris up into the neutral corner and unloaded numerous unanswered punches to end the round.
In the second round English continued to press her opponent while Morris continued to try and gain distance from her relentless antagonist.
The Scunthorpe lass began to land with crisp one-two combinations as English moved in but when Morris backed onto the ropes it was the Hamer girl’s turn to unload a barrage of punches to the body and head.
The Bell rang to start the third and last round and English immediately took the action to Morris and gained the advantage.
She continued to unload punches to the body and head before dipping out of range then coming back to land more.
Both girls where tired now, yet Morris continued to use her feet to gain distance from her opponent but by this time English had the bit between her teeth and she continued her onslaught right up to the bell to gain a unanimous decision in her favor.
Head coach Steven Connellan said: “That was a terrific performance by our girl and she needed it.
“The results have not been going her way of late and she seemed to have lost her mojo and her appetite for success.
“But after that performance I hope that now she has turned a corner and she begins to enjoy the sport again and with it comes more success.”
