Andrew staying put at Crown Oil Arena

-

STRIKER Calvin Andrew has signed an extension to his current contract at Rochdale, keeping him with the club until the summer of 2018.

The 29-year-old has been at Rochdale since 2014 and has made almost 100 appearances for Keith Hill’s side.

He returned from a nine-game suspension at the weekend, coming on as a second half sub to score Dale’s third in the 3-2 win against Scunthorpe.

After penning his contract extension, Andrew told the club’s official website: “I’m really pleased to be at the club and I’m happy here.

“I have a good relationship with the gaffer. We have a laugh and joke sometimes, but when things get serious and we need to focus on the job, then we get it done.

“I’m really pleased to be working for him and that’s a massive reason why I’ve signed on for another year, and hopefully we can get the club up the leagues.”

Manager Hill added: “I’m pleased that Calvin wants to stay and I’m pleased that we’re taking care of business earlier than we previously have done.

“From my perspective, it’s good business.

“He’s a great leader in the changing rooms and out on the pitch, and I’ve got to thank Calvin for showing faith in me and in the football club.

“He’s admitted that he could go to another club and earn more money but it’s about striking a balance “

Hill added: “He’s happy here.

“He’s happy in his football, he’s happy in his life, he’s happy working for me and for the football club, and we’ve struck the right balance with making sure that Calvin secures at least this season and next season at the football club.”
