‘It was like being in a prison working for them’

-

THE undercover expose sparked outrage from readers – with claims made on social media of bullying and mistreatment.

Dozens of people have been in touch, with many giving more insight into alleged practices inside the warehouse.

Rob Fernandes commented on Facebook that he was ‘looking forward’ to the programme, saying: “It’s way worse than it is made to sound in this report!!

“Hopefully this programme exposes working conditions for exactly what they are like and then something can be done.”

Melanie Vickers said: “I worked in their HR department for a VERY brief time.

“I was dismissed because I wouldn’t follow their practices.

“It was a case of if you shut up and do as you’re told you’ll go far but question morals and you’re out the door.

“Worst few months of my working life.”

Diane Tew commented: “My husband wrote to MP Simon Danczuk about this place a few years ago when my grandson worked there – the working conditions were terrible.

“He promised he would do something as he’d had a number of complaints.”

Dani Moore said her husband lost his job after getting ‘three strikes.’

She said: “My hubby went through this when I was pregnant and looking after a three-year-old.

“He had to take days off when I was unwell and he got three strikes.”

Gaz Crossley added: “This is exactly true, I walked out because I got given a final strike without them giving me my first or second, the place is a joke.”

Leanne Pyke wrote: “The company was a joke.

“It was like being in a prison working for them.

“It was disgusting how I was treated, lasted nine months.”

The specific claims by readers have not been commented on by JD Sports bosses, but a statement from the firm said Channel 4’s key claims were ‘simply not true.’
