Angling society gets set for 2017

TODMORDEN Angling Society Membership for 2017 is now open – all our usual outlets in Colne, Bury, Padiham, Burnley, Todmorden, Littleboro­ugh, Halifax, Rochdale and Shaw now have our tickets for sale.

Anybody who joins now may start fishing our waters immediatel­y – and carry on until the end of December 2017.

Note main changes to subscripti­ons for next year.

Concession­s only for the fisabled and OAPs over 65 years.

Late payment fee now applies to all classes (except juniors).

Late payment fee now only w.e.f End February NOT January.

Subs for next year will be as followsSen­iors before 28 February - £40. After 28 February - £50.

Senior citizens (over 65years) and disabled before 28 February £30. After 28 February - £40.

Junior under 12 free if fishing with paid up adult member – but need a ‘free’ card to fish. Junior aged 12-15 - £12 with no late payment fee.

Next year’s cards are now available in all our tackle shop outlets, or online, or by post from Karl Leach. See website for contact details.

There is a new series of open matches starting on January 15th. Teams of three with two anglers fishing on Croft and one on the canal in each match. Ring Frank Szakaley on 07769-905319 or 01706-846581 to book. Dates are: January 15th and 29th. February 5th,12th and 19th.

The Environmen­t Agency will be doing a bathametri­c survey of the bottom of Grove Lodge on Thursday January 26th.

This will provide the Society with a picture of the exact depths of the water in the lodge and where the silt has spread to.

The E.A. will then follow up this survey with a fish survey using nets before the end of March.
