Here’s hoping this year offers real deal

the 12 months ahead, with the hope that more and more real music will work its way back into the mainstream media, rather than the manufactured pop we have been subject to in recent years. Courteeners

Catfish and the Bottlemen and Blossoms are leading the way with this and long may it continue.

Locally, bands I’ll be hoping have a successful year are The Slow Readers Club, Alias Kid, The Ravellas, The Twisted Dolls, All the Kings Men, Jordan Allen, Kaiden Nolan, Gardenback and The Winachi Tribe.

Established bands with new music we can look forward to are Kasabian, who are starting to tease us online with clips of new material, Liam Gallagher, who is rumoured to be releasing a solo single at the end of January, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, who are set to release their third album, Arctic Monkeys, who are rumoured to be currently recording a new album in Sheffield and Stereophonics, whose 20th anniversary it is this year, are also set to release their tenth studio album. I also believe we will hear more new music from The Stone Roses sometime soon, who also have their London and Glasgow dates to look forward to.

Also gig wise, Courteeners are about to hit Old Trafford Cricket Ground in May for their biggest headline show to date and, with all the new music from bands I’ve mentioned already, I’m sure we can look forward to a great year of live music and tours.

Not forgetting of course all of our local bands who need our support to take them to the levels they deserve.

Here’s to a great 2017 of real music.
