Homes plan is under fire from neighbours
A PLAN to build 50 houses in BELFIELD has come under fire from neighbours.
The scheme involves developing land off Belfield Mill Lane - but neighbours say they are worried about the impact it could have on traffic and parking.
In a letter to the council, one objector said: “Belfield Mill Lane is a very narrow road and has no footpath in front of my house – the lane is used by walkers and dog walkers on a regular basis and a significant increase of traffic would be hazardous and detrimental to pedestrian safety.
“If there is to be 50 properties, there could be approximately more than 200 vehicles passing my property on a daily basis and large delivery vehicles would also be a problem due to the current width of the road. Parking is currently an issue in front of the terrace where my property is (and) this will be exacerbated by this development due to the large volume of traffic and large vehicles.”
In a statement submitted with the outline planning application developers GL Hearn property consultants say they ‘seek to create high quality open market and affordable homes with a desirable living environment that will fit harmoniously within its local setting,’ adding: “The site is well connected to local amenities and therefore deemed a logical extension to existing residential settlement.”
The application will be considered by council planning chiefs in due course.
