Crolla drops in to inspire boy boxers

-

LADS at Littleborough boxing gym thought they were in for a normal night of sweat and hard work last Friday, that was until Manchester boxing star WBA and ring magazine challenger Anthony Crolla came in and visited the gym to give the lads some advice and sign some autographs.

Anthony, who came up through LD Kelly’s builders, spent over an hour at the club talking to the boxers and signing autographs, even getting in the ring with Alex Young and Sam Smith to do some light padwork.

Crolla, who is in training for his upcoming fight against Linares at the Arena on the 25th of March in search for his world title, only finished training himself at the famous Gallagher’s gym at 3pm that day and yet still came up to the Littleborough club and managed to talk to everyone.

Lee Kelly, of LD Kelly’s builders, said: “Both me and Anthony are massive United fans and a few times at the games we had talked about him heading up to the club and meeting the boxers, Littleborough boxing club trained me so it was nice to see the young kids reaction and hopefully it will give the kids a boost.”

Head coach Mark Oldham added: “Anthony is well known on the boxing circuit for being great with his fans, he always has time for the young lads and he definitely deserves every success he has in the ring as he’s a great role model and a great boxer, the full club will be biting their nails whilst willing him on in his rematch with Linares.”
