Family’s thanks for tributes to United fan Ron

THE family of a ‘true Manchester United fan’ who collapsed and died while watching his beloved club have thanked football supporters for their ‘overwhelmi­ng’ messages of condolence.

Ronnie Greenwood, 71, of Whitworth was watching United play West Ham at the London Stadium with his friend last month, when he fell to the floor in the stands.

Mr Greenwood, who was described as ‘United through and through’, was taken to Homerton Hospital, but died.

United boss Joe Mourinho was among those who paid tribute to Mr Greenwood.

Writing in his programme the Portugese said: “I have to say how sad I was to learn Ronnie Greenwood, one of our supporters, passed away during Monday’s game at West Ham.
