Teachers soak up the fun for hospice cash

-

TEACHERS at WHITWORTH Community High School proved themselves to be good sports when they lined up in the stocks to face wet sponges.

The sponge-off was the last Rossendale Hospice fundraiser to be organised by the school’s Year 10 Youth Enterprise Challenge team.

And the students were said to be queuing up for the chance to drench their teachers.

Dominik Seale, 14, said: “We charged students 50p for two wet sponges or £1 for five and we had a lot of people wanting to take part.”

Sam Milton, 15, added: “Being a part of the Youth Enterprise team has been great fun and a good experience because I have got to know new people and got to work in a team with them.”

The sponge-off was held during lunchtime break, and all of the teachers changed into ●●The Youth Enterprise Challenge team at the sponge off, from left, Year 10 students Dominic Seale, Katie Bray, Jack Myatt, Sam Milton, Lewis Whittles and Tom Crabtree sportswear for the challenge, except assistant headteacher Paul Dugdale who chose to stay in his suit.

The event was the last fundraiser to be organised for the challenge and raised £80.50, making their final total for Rossendale Hospice £1,085.

The challenge is a competition between six high schools and the final presentation was due to be held on Thursday, February 2.
