Children had roaring good time at club

-

●●10 years ago OME interesting guests made an appearance when youngsters celebrated Chinese New Year.

Bearded dragons and other weird and wonderful critters paid a visit to Caldershaw Holiday Club in Norden.

For days the children had looked forward to meeting their unusual guests and had spent some time learning all about them and how they lived in the wild.

SA GREEN team were busy reinstating a popular feature of Syke Moor.

Volunteers were hard at work restoring Ring Lows pond which had been slowly disappearing due to the growth of reeds.

The spot had also been plagued by joy riders dumping cars on the moor.

Contractors Norden Agricultural used a small excavator to shift the plants while 17 residents helped remove car parts and other waste from the spot. A COUPLE who decided to take a few years out from their hectic jobs found their niche running an uplifting new venture.

Just Bras was the brainchild of Jacqui Lowe-Jackson until she was joined by her husband Richard.

The couple set up shop in Mellor Street and boasted 6,000 customers, selling bras in sizes to suit all figures.

Jacqui had previously been an events manager at Manchester town hall while Richard was a programme manager for SureStart in Oldham. STAFF at Rochdale’s Yorkshire Bank showed that they had real heart when they backed a charity’s appeal.

They decked out their branch in heart-shaped balloons and other items in order to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation.

They also held a raffle with prizes including wine and chocolates to fit in with the theme of Valentine’s Day. THERE was a distinctly multi-cultural feeling in an assembly at Healey Primary School.

Pupils had a visit from members of the Hebron Pentecostal Church who wanted to share their Zimbabwean and Ghanian roots with the children.

Youngsters enjoyed singing gospel songs and the theme of the assembly was communication which the children greatly enjoyed.
