MP accuses ex-Chancellor of ‘failing to deliver’ to electors

-

THE MP for Heywood and Middleton says George Osborne is ‘failing to deliver’ for his constituents after his appointment as the editor of the London Evening Standard.

Liz McInnes MP said: “On Monday in parliament I responded to the government’s budget and I noted no mention at all of the previous Chancellor George Osborne’s failure to deliver a promised surplus by 2020.

“I also noted that Mr Osborne now seems to be devoting himself to creating his own personal surplus, having accepted a six-figure annual sum to work for financial group BlackRock in addition to earning hundreds of thousands of pounds for public speaking.

“In addition to this, we have now heard the announcement that he will be the new full-time editor of the London Evening Standard newspaper. This is all in addition to his work as a north-west Member of Parliament.

“George Osborne failed to deliver on his promises for the UK economy and he is now failing to deliver his promise to the people who elected him as their MP. The public deserve better, and deserve MPs representing them in parliament on a full time basis.”
