Under-16s gearing up for Lancs Trophy semi

-

ROCHDALE RUFC U16s have everything to play for in the run-in to the end of the season.

They have reached the semi-finals of the prestigious Lancashire Trophy Competition, lining up against the best teams across the county.

Their impressive performances have resulted in three of the squad gaining representative honours.

Beltus Nonleh, Daniel Kelly and Josh Grundy were all selected to represent Lancashire in this season’s County Cup Competition, with Daniel Kelly also joining Sale Sharks Academy and Josh Grundy joining Salford City Reds Academy.

Coach Stuart Pooley said:“The lads have been outstanding this season in all aspects of our game. We feel very proud of the squad as a whole, although we have had individual recognition for three of our players. It has been a real squad effort over the last few seasons to get where we are today.”

Fellow coach Dan Kelly added: “Lancashire has been something of a closed shop for teams like Rochdale in the past, so it’s great to see the lads putting Rochdale on the map.”
