Bamford goes all Italian

-

BAMFORD Tennis club have introduced a little bit of Italian quality to Bamford. In reality it is more than a little bit. It is in fact 10 tonnes which is the quantity of clay they have imported and laid on their courts.

The clay is exactly the same as that used in major International Tennis Federation tournaments at Monte Carlo and Rome. The surface provides a slow high bounce and is less stressful on the joints than other tennis surfaces.

The mayor of Rochdale will open the new courts at 2pm on the 29th April 2017. Anybody can attend the opening and try out the courts for free.

The club currently has a number of initiatives to get more people playing tennis.

They are running three Tennis for Kids programmes on Tuesday evenings from 5.30 until 6.30pm, lasting for six weeks and entirely free. These courses are for five to eight year old children who have never played tennis before. At the end of each six week course every child receives a free racket. For details contact Peter on 07889 340234.

Adults who wish to try out playing can come to the club on Saturdays from 2.30pm and play for free.

Senior yearly membership has also been reduced to only £35 for the first year and £60 for the second year. Junior membership, which is only £15 a year, is free for the children of any senior member. Should you wish to discuss any of the above contact Roger on 07563 787542
