Eden’s in tune with new role at Dale

-

THE Dale have appointed a new matchday announcer and DJ.

Life-long fan Eden Bearshaw will take over from Dave Sweetmore, who announced he was stepping down from the role last month, from next season.

Growing up watching the Dale and being inspired by Dave Sweetmore himself, Eden impressed the interview panel with his passion, knowledge and unique flair.

He said: “It is a dream come true to be offered this position and an absolute honour to take over the role from Dave. I grew up listening to him at the home games and whilst my music tastes are remarkably similar to Dave’s, there are also a number of different tracks and artists that I haven’t heard at the club before, which I’m excited to share with supporters.”

Dale chief executive Russ Green, said: “Although we are all sad to see Dave leave, Dave was involved in the interview panel and it was a unanimous decision to appoint Eden. I think Eden will bring a fresh, young vibe on matchdays, but fans will still hear Dave’s musical influence through Eden with himself having grown up listening and being inspired by Dave on matchdays. “On behalf of everybody at the club, I would like to thank Dave for his 17 years of service and welcome Eden to the team. I am sure the fans will get behind and support him.”

Dave added: “It was without a doubt the hardest decision of my life leaving Dale after so long. I’ve spent almost half of my life here and met some of my best friends here. After we had met and interviewed Eden we knew straight away that we had the man for the job. He is a true Dale fan with a great taste in music and an excellent microphone technique. “I’d like to wish him all the best as he takes over what is, the best job in the world.”
