Hendo: Play-off dream not over

-

IAN Henderson is refusing to give up on the dream of landing a League One play-off place.

Rochdale’s 19-goal topscorer fired a brace in Easter Monday’s victory over Coventry at the Crown Oil Arena. And with both Millwall and Southend losing, it meant Dale closed the gap between themselves and

the top six to just three points with two games to play.

Dale make the short trip to neighbours Oldham this afternoon and Henderson insists the possibility of securing a play-off place is not out of the question.

“The atmosphere’s amazing at the moment and we’re not out of it,” he said. “We’re kind of the quiet ones creeping up and again we did the business on Monday and other teams unfortunately – or fortunately in our favour – dropped points. We’re only three points off it now and we go into the next two games with unbelievable hope and we’ve still got that dream alive.”

With just two games left, securing all three points is crucial. The first of those games is away at Oldham, a game which Henderson can’t wait for.

“It’s another derby and I think everyone around Rochdale is going to be looking forward to it.

“Two derbies within two weeks of each other is fantastic, so you know it’s just another game of football as they say but with an added spice of a derby.

“We’re just going with the same kind of attitude and we’re going to apply ourselves to win the game”.

It is two years since Dale last suffered defeat against Oldham, but they face a side full of confidence and as good as guaranteed a place in the division next season.

John Sheridan’s men have won their last three games – including home victories against promotion-chasing Bolton and Fleetwood Town.
