MP’s capital show is charity winner
SIMON Danczuk was among the 40,000 runners who completed Sunday’s London Marathon and raised hundreds of pounds for charity.
The Rochdale MP crossed the finish line in a respectable 5hrs 6mins.
He was running in aid of Rochdale Connections Trust, a charity which helps victims of domestic abuse.
Mr Danczuk said: “I am very pleased to have run the London Marathon for Rochdale Connections Trust and I would like to thank them for all the hard work they do across the town.
“I also want to thank everybody who has donated, it’s been a real motivation to see all the support I’ve received from friends, colleagues and people across Rochdale.
“The London Marathon is a great way to raise money and awareness for excellent charities across the country.
“It’s been a lot of training but it’s really paid off and I hope that more people will take part next year having seen how much good can come from it for so many great causes.”
Vivian Carter, chair of Rochdale Connections Trust, said: “Rochdale Connections Trust would like to congratulate Simon Danczuk on completing the London Marathon.
“The money raised will go towards supporting the work RCT carries out in helping families who suffer from domestic abuse, particularly young people who witness domestic abuse in their homes. It is becoming increasingly well documented that those who witness abuse of this type are often the homeless young people of the future.
“Simon, your efforts were much appreciated by all of us.”
