Predator who groomed girl is sent to jail
ASEXUAL predator who showered an underage girl with gifts before assaulting her during a night away in London has been jailed.
Mahmood Ahmed, 50, of Rochdale, was caged for 20 months at Minshull Street Crown Court after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child and one count assault.
The court heard how Ahmed, now of HMP Manchester, but who previously lived in the Newbold area of Rochdale, showered the victim with compliments and bought her gifts including clothes, makeup and a mobile phone.
Over a number of months he continually of sexual made sexual advances towards her, including kissing her and offering money in return for a massage.
He then took the victim away for the night to London where he sexually assaulted her.
As part of his sentence he was also handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
Det Con Christopher Sherbourne, from Rochdale’s Sunrise Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “Ahmed preyed on a vulnerable girl for his own perverse pleasure.
“He knew she was under the age of 16 but he didn’t care and spent months showering her with gifts in a bid to build her trust before sexually abusing her.
“The victim has been incredibly courageous throughout this case from having the confidence to assist police right through to the court process.
“I hope the victim now feels safer knowing Ahmed is behind bars.”
