Stay together in

-

THE first team are on a barren run at the moment with six straight defeats since our derby draw at home to Oldham, and we were disappointed to come away from the Easter period without a point.

Sheffield Eagles put us to the sword on Good Friday before Swinton Lions broke our hearts with a late drop-goal in a 23-22 defeat.

It has been a tough period for the players and coaching staff, but it is important we stay united as one and avoid negativity.

We have identified areas of improvement during our free week and have been working hard to eradicated them and get back to our early season form.

Some of the losses we have suffered have been narrow defeats which could have gone either way, and at times we’re not getting the rub of the green, however that is how it is in sport sometimes and we just have to continue to work hard.

We have played all of the teams in the division once so when we face them a second time around we will know exactly what to expect, and hopefully we can get back to winning ways and repay our great support so far this campaign.

Hull KR pose a huge threat this Sunday and it will be a tough trip to the KCOM Craven Park, but we’re not afraid of any task in front of us and the 17 men selected will give their all to get a result.

We pushed the former Super League outfit all the way when we met at the Crown Oil Arena so we will take plenty of positives from that encounter.

Since I last wrote to you we have made a lot of great strides in the club’s Sporting Foundation, as our wheelchair team has competed in its first competitive league match against experienced outfit Mersey Storm

It was a great day for the foundation and the team, and despite a heavy defeat there was no shame in losing to a side who fielded three internationals.

We’re hoping that interest grows in the sport, and anyone interested can get down to training sessions at Kingsway High School on Saturday mornings from 10.30am, starting May 13th.

We also launched the Middleton Rugby Project on Monday which sees us partner with Dream Big Sports to provide free rugby league sessions in the area.

A total 13 children were in attendance for our first session despite adverse weather, and we’re hoping it grows week on week.

On Wednesday we hosted a year 7 schools Origin series which saw four teams compete in nine-a-side games at Hopwood Hall.

There were some talented youngsters on show who are definitely ones to watch for the future.

Thanks again for your
