Cyber crime warning to breakfast audience

-

CYBER crime prevention and customer service were the topics on the menu at a business networking breakfast organised by Rochdale law firm, Molesworths.

The event, held at Hopwood Hall College’s Middleton Campus brought local business people together to network and share ideas and knowledge.

Graeme Brand, Barclay’s regional Digital Eagle for the north west, spoke to guests about the threat that cyber crime poses to businesses, highlighting the tactics now used by criminals.

Mr Brand gave examples of popular passwords used by businesses that were weak and warned they posed a serious security risk and gave urgent advice on how to create strong and secure passwords to protect their businesses.

He also warned company directors and business owners about the growing trend of CEO impersonation, invoice fraud, and the major implications on busi- nesses of malicious software and phishing emails.

Chris Lowe, a regional director at Shopper Anonymous, a customer feedback firm, spoke about the importance of thinking from a customer’s perspective. ●●Attending the business breakfast organised by Molesworth Solcitors were (front left): Kitsa Efthymiadis, partner at Molesworths, Graeme Brand of Barclays, Neil Clayton of Barclays, Chris Lowe of Shopper Anonymous, Sarah Percy of Shopper Anonymous and Paul Dixon, partner at Molesworths

“Molesworths host great events for business inspiration and networking and they also contain sound advice to take away and use in my own business or for my clients.”

Paul Dixon, partner at Molesworths, said “Once again our guest speakers provided an entertaining insight into topical issues which are directly relevant to businesses of all sizes. We would like to thank Barclays Bank for their support in cohosting the event, which is an indication of the importance the Bank attributes to the issues that Graeme and Chris addressed so ably.”
