Walkers reach for the sky

-

Name of event: approximately 14 miles over varied terrain, starting at Lobden Golf Club between 8am and 9am. The organisers, Whitworth Sports Council, will provide you with written route instructions and orange juice/water/plasters if required at every checkpoint and vehicles may be available to remove you from the moor in the case of emergency. There will also be a certificate and a hot meal available at the finish at Lobden Golf Club. The 14 miles will take you, probably between five and eight hours, so bring a snack or two and a drink, although there will be juice/water available to you at each checkpoint (roughly every three miles), a burger van en route and a meal at the finish back at the golf club. Checkpoint 2 is on the main road at Britannia at five miles, so if you know the full 14 is going to be beyond you, how about walking just those first five miles, which we’re calling the Eastern Skyline and calling it quits? (If you tell us on your entry form this is what you’re going to do, we’ll lop a pound off your entry fee, you’ll still get your certificate and your meal, if you go to Lobden.)

How you can enter and find out more:

Collect an entry form from Whitworth Leisure Centre, The Riverside, UBS or Nibbles Cafe and entry is £5 on the day. Any queries please phone Jo Furtado (01706 853442) or David Chorlton (01706 853234). This week we are desperate to find a home for little Jasper
