WELCOME to latest addition of my column, ahead our last home game for a while. With our indifferent home form I’m not sure if it’s a good or bad thing we are not playing many home games this month.

I can assure you we are doing everything we can to perform this week in front of you our loyal supporters.

Featherstone Rovers are having an excellent campaign and it shows how good our victory was at their place earlier on in the year with them sitting in the top three and progressing through to the last 16 of the cup.

Jon Sharp is an excellent coach and a great bloke. When I was playing in the academy at St Helens, Jon was the first team assistant and he always had time for the younger players and helped develop some world class players including James Graham and James Roby to name a few.

He has assembled a very good squad and with the Leeds Rhinos fringe players topping them up they are a strong outfit that play some really attractive football.

It’s safe to say we are glad to see the back of April. In the two home performances against Toulouse and Sheffield, we were way below the standards expected at this club and we couldn’t have been more disappointed with both outcomes in those encounters.

The away games at Batley and Swinton were both very frustrating and as it has been well documented that some very poor decisions impacted on the result. When we are beaten by one and two points only to get feedback saying our players were wrongfully penalised and sin binned doesn’t make us feel any better. As a group though we are determined not to let this adversity impact us and it will fuel our motivation even further.

Following the Easter break we have a tough schedule playing three teams in the top four. Last weekend’s performance at Hull KR gave us a lot of confidence and we have pushed them in both games, losing by 10 and eight points when they have been beating sides by 40/50 points. That shows the strength in our group considering we were hit with suspensions, injuries and a late withdrawal due to illness. This group are very strong mentally and when the odds are stacked against them they are even stronger.

We still have 18 games to play and only after the summer bash we will be at the half way point of a 30 game season. I am confident we have plenty more improvement in us and can start performing consistently well.

As always we need your support, so let’s make the Crown Oil Arena a hostile environment tomorrow and get behind the team.

‘We have plenty more improvement in us and can start performing’
