Mum’s warning after man tries to lure her into car
AMUM has issued a warning to others after she was followed by a man who tried to entice her into his car in Rochdale.
GMP say they have received two separate reports of women in a two-mile radius of each other being approached by a man in a black Seat on Tuesday morning.
Kerry Holden had been stood waiting for a work colleague to pick her up on Bridgefold Road at around 9.30am when she noticed a car drive past her several times.
The man behind the wheel pulled up to the kerb and tried to talk to her, asking the 30-yearold mum-of-one to get in his car.
Kerry bluntly refused, demanding he leave her alone, but he persisted, telling her again and again to get in the vehicle.
She said: “He found this amusing and was smirking.
“I wasn’t particularly scared at first, only when he opened the car door and started telling me to get in so he could speak to me that I started to shake.
“I felt sick and instinctively held my phone up to him, as soon as he saw me do this he drove away very quickly around the corner.
“I tried to follow to get a picture of the license plate but he was too quick.”
Kerry, who is a support worker for vulnerable people, believes she was targeted by the man because he thought she was a younger girl.
She added: “I think that upon approaching me he had thought I was younger than I am, I wore no make up that day and do often get mistaken for a younger girl.
“The most worrying thing to me is the fact that a younger girl may have approached the car.”
In a bid to warn others, Kerry shared her experience on Facebook and so far her post has been shared more than 800 times.
Police confirmed they were investigating the incident and said that they had received a similar report from another woman nearby less than an hour before.
She had been walking along Hamer Lane at around 8.40am when she too was followed by a man in a black Seat for around five minutes, who repeatedly asked her to get inside the vehicle.
On both occasions, the suspect was described as being Asian, in his late 20s to early 30s, with a small but stocky frame and wearing dark-coloured clothing.
