Boro boys shine in Lancs victory
AHAT-TRICK from Thomas Mills and braces from Nyall Hensby and Jack Bennetta led Littleborough’s Under13s boys to a Lancashire Cup Trophy.
In arguably Littleborough Under-13s biggest game to date, they brought out arguably their best performance as they romped him to a thorough 45-20 against a tough Tarleton side.
Pre-match, the game had been due to take place at Littleborough but was moved to Tarleton, but that did not stop the visitors taking full control of large parts of the game and being highly clinical in their finishing.
Littleborough scored four tries to Tarleton’s two, asserting dominance from the outset with their strong tackling and clinical edge when in position. Mills and Bennetta took it in turn to trade their two tries a piece as Tarleton attempted to keep in touch.
However, Sunday was not going to be their day as the visitors continued to move through the gears and sped to the trophy with another five tries. First captain Thomas Howard dived over for the first try after the break while Nyall excellently dummied the final defender to stroll in for his first after the ball was moved crisply through hands into the backs.
Though the Littleborough forwards laid a fantastic platform for the backs, it would be an afternoon that the backs stole the limelight after Mills had completed his hat-trick.
A fantastic achievement in a huge game and something that will stay with him for life.
You could say the same thing for Nyall Hensby. The outside centre scored one of the best tries you will see all year. A try so good, it has now claimed huge praise and admiration from across the country as a nomination for the Samsung Try of the Month. Once more crisp passing opened up the space for the Boro right winger to make some yards.
As he encountered a Tarleton brick wall, he popped the ball off to Nyall to hand off five players in a tight space, before sprinting clear of the sixth to slide in the left corner.
Littleborough even had time for another try as Charlie Frost finished off an excellent team move, much to the delight of the travelling supporters and coaches alike.
Some even had added this trophy to their end of season awards from the Friday before as Nyall Hensby (Players Player), Efan Morgan (Coaches player), Sam Bennetta (Most Improved), Tom Howard (Captain award), Jack Bennetta (Clubman) all collected awards.
