Town in final after win over Chaddy

MIDDLETON Town narrowly beat Chadderton 4-3 to secure a place in the final of the First Division Supplement­ary Cup.

Despite early domination, Town found themselves 1-0 down after Chadderton’s quick counter-attack was made to count inside 15 minutes.

However, Jordan Burton quickly found the equaliser for Middleton as he tucked the ball into the top corner.

The second Middleton goal was also added by Burton, just moments after his first goal.

After the interval Middleton stepped up their performanc­e scoring quickly to make it 3-1 and 4-1 within the first five minutes of play.

Chadderton remained relentless throughout and did pull two late goals back to keep spectators on the edge of their seats, but were unable to get the equaliser.

Chris Petcu commented on Middleton’s successes: “We’ve had a great season accomplish­ed first division promotion, as a team we have built on mentality; scoring plenty of goals, and it sets up nicely for next season. I’m proud of the team and what we have achieved even after a tough middle season we came through other end with target made, with promotion, semi final, and final of cups.”

Also in the competitio­n Avenue demolished Middleton Colts Second XI 6-0 with an excellent home performanc­e, but this was not enough to see them reach the final.
