Hornets can still hit top-eight target: Kilshaw

-

ROCHDALE Hornets head coach Alan Kilshaw insists his side can still achieve their target of finishing in the top eight despite their recent run of poor form.

Hornets have dropped to ninth place in the Championship table after failing to win any of their last eight games, including a 38-8 home defeat to Featherstone Rovers in their last match.

Rochdale aren’t in action this weekend, and Kilshaw believes the one week break can help to reinvigorate his side before they then look to kick on and achieve their aims this season.

“Our goal at the start of the season was to get into the top eight and I still think we can get there,” he said.

“We’ve got a good run of games coming now.

“We have Halifax next who are just outside the top four and theses upcoming games against the teams who are in and around and who aren’t full time teams.

“It’s just Toulouse we have to play in this block who are in the top four, so we need to make sure we pick up results from the teams around us.

“It’s eight games since we last won so we’re in a bit of a losing rut at the minute and it’s a habit we need to get out of.

“We have this weekend off but we’ll train hard and relax when we need to. The lads will come in so there will be no time off as we prepare for the next phase of games.

“It’s Halifax next and then Oldham at the Summer Bash and Sheffield after that, so we’ll just keep the faith in what we’re doing and make sure we get better by working hard.”

Hornets are next in action on Sunday 21 May when they travel to the Shay to face Halifax.
