Man fights for his life after quad bike crash

AMAN is fighting for his life after a collision involving a quad bike.

A teenager also suffered serious injuries following the incident in Rochdale on Saturday night.

The man, 25, was riding a Polaris Predator 500 quad bike in Bentley Street, at 8.12pm.

It collided with a blue Kia Sportage, also travelling in Bentley Street, after the car turned onto Oxford Way.

The quad bike rider was rushed to hospital, and his condition is described as life threatenin­g.

A 14-year-old boy, a passenger on the quad bike, is also in hospital suffering from serious injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

One man said his daughter had seen the aftermath of the crash.

He said: “She told me it looked like a very serious incident and the woman driving the Kia was particular­ly upset.

“I don’t know exactly what happened.”

PC Paul Joynson, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigat­ion Unit, said: “I would urge anyone who saw the collision, or saw the quad bike in the moments before the collision, to get in touch.

“If you were driving in the area and have dashcam footage from around that time please contact police as you may be able to help us.”
