Glodwick feel full force of backlash

-

ROCHDALE bounced back from their defeat at Crompton to thrash Glodwick at Redbrook on Sunday

Another century opening partnership from Jack Avery and Ben Chapman gave Dale a terrific start, and professional Henry Cooper then capitalised by posting another large score – this time an undefeated 80 as the home team posted a whopping 244 for 3.

Avery and Chapman had set the ball rolling, ticking the early part of the innings over at a decent lick.

At the half way stage they had reached 100, but then Avery drove at Rehan Rafique and the bowler took a short return catch.

Chapman continued to be severe on anything short, but fell on 79, caught at slip.

So far Cooper had played something of a watching brief, but towards the end of the innigs he doisplayed his destructive qualities, 37 runs coming off the last 3 overs.

Glodwick’s reply stuttered. A wicket apiece for Mo Bux and Michael Harling were complemented by Cooper’s direct hit to run out Farukh Shaghir and the visitors were 16 for 3.

A recovery of sorts was led by professional Rehman, who had made a century the day before and Anees Ur- Rehamann and the two put on 77 for the fourth wicket before Ollie Makin induced a false drive from Rehman and James O’Neill took the edged catch.

The same bowler then accounted for Ur-Rehman, and Dale Highton polished off the tale to claim five wickets.
