SKIPPER Clinton Perren led from the front as his young homegrown Littleborough side bounced back from their first reversal of the season the previous day.

He stroked his way to a majestic 88 and was the last man out when the scores were tied and he really deserved to walk off with a red inker.

Earlier in the day Monton won the toss and got off to a flier as openers Kershaw and Shafique brought the 50 up in the 11th over.

Perren introduced pro Burl and he picked up a wicket with his first ball as Kershaw fell to a fine diving catch by his skipper at first slip.

He then removed the dangerous looking Shafique courtesy of a caught and bowled.

That soon became 81-3 as Knight removed Monton pro Wajhuddin courtesy of an excellent diving catch by young keeper Hernon and when Burl claimed his second caught and bowled to remove the well set Chugtai the Boro had fought back brilliantly to leave the hosts 95-4.

Miskella replaced the tiring Knight and provided his skipper with excellent control and this was rewarded as he removed Sandham and Lenihan to good catches by messrs Barnes and Pye.

He then clean bowled Kumar and returned excellent figures of 3-11 off his seven overs. An excellent run out by perren form the boundary removed Costa, Wilamn returned to remove Coe and then Burl took the final wicket to return excellent figures 0f 4-38 off 12.3 overs.

The young Boro attack definitely bounced back as a unit after yesterday’s below par performance.

The Boro reply got off to a steady start before Pye was caught in the covers off Sandham before Burl quite bizarrely went to far back and trod on his wicket again to Sandham.

This brought Miskella to the crease and he looked to take on the short bowling but tried one pull too many and fell for 10. Watching all this unfold at the other end was skipper who had looked in no trouble at all as he strolled to 30.

He and Hussain put on 33 before Hussain was caught behind and he was soon followed by Knight as he was castled by Shafique and this left the Boro in a spot of trouble at 94-5, by this stage Perren passed his 50 to a standing ovation by all those present at Well i’th Hole off the first ball following a short rain break.

He was joined by keeper Hernon and he gave his skipper the support he had been crying out for all innings.

Hernon and Perren put on 52 to to tie the scores in what turned out to be a match winning partnership but Perren fell to Collins for an excellent score of 88 which included 8 fours and two sixes in what was his best innings of the season, a season that has already seen him pass 50 for the fourth innings out of five.

It was left quite rightly to young Hernon to hit the winning run to complete an innings that will give his confidence no end of help.

Perren’s young troops certainly showed some bottle with a well deserved victory at what has become a bogey ground over the years for the boys from Hare Hill
