Good taste is on menu as chefs hit the streets
AMOUTHWATERING array of grub was on offer as Littleborough hosted its third annual food festival.
Foodies flocked to the town on Sunday to sample some of the best produce the area has to offer.
Hare Hill Road was closed to traffic as food stalls lined the street.
Top local chefs Graham Sherwin, from Dearnley’s Green Door restaurant, and Andy McKay from Littleborough Deli, hosted cookery demonstrations, with Andy also giving a cookery class for kids in the outdoor marquee.
Neela Jackson, from the organising committee, said: “It was a fantastic day for Littleborough. Considering the weather we saw really huge crowds throughout the day with people coming from across the region.
“The festival is now in its third year and people are now starting to put it in their diary. It really brings people into Littleborough, it’s fantastic to see.
“The feedback we have had has been brilliant. This year we had much more variety and that went down really well.”
Alongside the food entertainment was provided by Wardle Junior Blast band, oompah band the Jagermaestros and the Rock Choir.
Many shops were also open, and reported a brisk trade.
Neela, who organises the event alongside fellow committee members Joanne Matthews from Best Dressed, Mark Jones from Yankee Heaven, Simon France from Littleborough Local and Julie Pimlott, added: “The food festival is the only festival in Littleborough which is organised by local businesses.
“It is businesses coming together to put something together for the community.
“The whole aim is to showcase the fantastic array of chefs, restaurants and food producers we have in Littleborough.”
